We welcome back Andreas Homestead again this year. Their farm is just 5 miles from downtown Apex on 4 acres of land. Owned and operated by Lynn and Mike Andreas, who raise pastured chicken, turkey and eggs. Striving for sustainability, their pasture raised chicken and turkeys are in open-air floorless pens which are moved several times a day so their poultry has plenty of fresh grass and bugs. In addition, the animals have access to organic feed all day. The laying chickens free range all day and produce delicious fresh eggs. Their vision is to have healthy land with healthy animals to create a healthier you.
We are also happy to welcome back Little River Eco Farm. Located on the Upper Little River in Harnett County, Little River Eco Farm is the 14 acre farmstead of John and Mary Jane Bartlett. They raise pastured livestock based on principles of sustainable agriculture. As a Wildlife Ecologist (John) and an Environmental Engineer (Mary Jane), they believe in being good stewards of the land while providing their customers with healthy, wholesome and delicious pastured pork and chicken and fresh eggs, along with grass fed beef.
Fire up the grills! We are excited to welcome Heston Farms to the Apex Farmers Market. At Heston Farms, their motto is “Know Your Meat PERSONally.” Their calves are born and raised on their beautiful Person County farm. Their predominantly Black Angus herd provides their customers with the highest quality beef available. Their calves are 100% pasture raised and are offered the choice of whole grains; all of which are harvested by Person County farmers then ground on Heston Farms. Heston Farms is committed to abstaining from the use of hormones and antibiotics. When you purchase your beef from Heston Farms you will have the satisfaction of knowing where your beef comes from, that it was raised humanely and that you have chosen the highest quality, local product.
Did someone say honey? We searched high and low for an amazing honey vendor and we found one in beekeepers, Dan and Betty, who have both had a fascination with bees since childhood. They turned their passion into their life's work. With hives located throughout the local area, across NC, and in other southeastern states, Heavenly Beezzz offers a huge variety of raw and unfiltered honey and honey products. Heavenly Beezzz is committed to providing each and every valued customer with a variety of healthy, great tasting products and exceptional service.
Piemonte Farm is another new vendor to the market and we are thrilled to welcome them part time. Located on a sustainable, 23-acre sheep farm, they are nestled in the heart of the NC Piedmont. Their small herd of hormone and antibiotic free East Friesian sheep supply the milk for their delicate artisan sheep milk cheeses and luxurious sheep milk and lavender soap. Their aged and fresh cheeses, such as mozzarella, ricotta, and mascarpone cheese, and homemade butter is created using artisan cow's milk. From their lavender and rose field they offer fresh and dried flowers in season. Fresh farm eggs are gathered daily from chickens who happily roam the pastures. And raw wildflower honey is bottled every season from their Italian bees.
This year we have four farmers who will be offering a variety eggs, so there will be plenty to go around! They are Andreas Homestead, Little River Eco Farm, Harland's Creek Farm and Piemonte Farm.
